Roadsmith Trike of the Month
It would be hard to find a more worthy candidate for Roadsmith’s Trike of the Month this month than Fred Treadways’s custom painted, musical tribute trike aptly named “Play On”. Fred has been a loyal Roadsmith customer for many years going all the way back to his first purchase, a VW powered Roadhawk bought from Roadsmith founder, Dick Lindholm, out of the original Daytona Beach location on Beach St. Since then, Fred has owned a variety of Roadsmith trikes, the majority of which have been custom painted by world-renowned Florida painter, Chris Cruz.
His latest creation is arguably the most spectacular as it encompasses Fred’s love of music and Hollywood icons from his childhood in both illustrations and sound. Everything from Somewhere Over the Rainbow from the Wizard of Oz to Woodstock to Arlo Guthrie, Jimmy Hendrix and Johnny Cash are beautifully represented on this one of a kind rolling history machine. Other touches include a “Stairway to Heaven” graphic that features images and songs from Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and a host of other actors and artists that are no longer with us and, presumably, have climbed that “stairway to heaven”.
This unique trike is only one in a collection of custom-painted trikes that Fred is lucky enough to own. Other trikes include one devoted to his three Labrador retrievers entitled “Playtime” and another Jimmy Buffet themed trike named “Margaritaville”. We’d like to thank Fred for sharing his incredible creation with us and congratulate him on a spectacular example of a Roadsmith trike. Play on, Fred!
Attention: Customers and Dealers, please send your trike photos, with any accompanying stories, to Doug Lindholm email@example.com to be considered for future Trike of the Month Awards.
